Love brunch? Stay up to date on Boston's best brunches and upcoming Brunches of Boston events.
So we’re obsessed with Sixth Gear, a rustic and cozy brunch spot in Southie. The brunch scene is quiet, but we have no idea why; not only is it adorably decorated with farmhouse-inspired trinkets and furniture, but the menu is fabulous. Their balance of classic favorites and more unique dishes is perfect, and the actual number of options is average. Some standouts include lobster benedict, the chicken & waffle sandwich, and the s’mores french toast; add in their equally delicious brunch drinks including mimosas, bloodys, and adult iced coffees and our Sunday is complete. Everything is of top notch quality, taste, and the portion sizes are unbeatable. The lobster and salmon benedicts are both made with a thick and creamy hollandaise, a perfectly poached egg, and generous portions of the seafood. The lobster soaked in the yolk and hollandaise is to die for. The home fries aren’t cooked with the usual crispiness we love, but they do have great flavor. We love the s’mores french toast, but the only downside is that the crunchy graham cracker exterior makes the dish a bit chewy. But we’re obsessed with the gooey marshmallow filling it has, as well as the chocolate drizzle on top. Hello winter-bod! Prices are just on the slightly higher side, with almost everything falling around $14, but with the huge portion sizes we can’t complain. Sixth Gear, we’ll be back.
