Post 390

We were thrilled to be invited to dine this past weekend at Post 390 in the Back Bay area. Upon entering the restaurant, there is an immediate feeling of effortless elegance. The entire ambiance is classy and posh, but a large fireplace in the center of the restaurant and dark leather furniture keeps the vibe cozy. Sitting down for brunch here is like a breath of fresh air. Start off with the Lil Rhody; with dark rum, Kahlua, and espresso, it’s the perfect kick-start to your morning. Their menu is large with a great variety of seafood, healthy “from the farm” options, and of course, breakfast food. Every single brunch dish has a unique twist, making you question ever going back to normal pancakes or scrambled eggs. We are still drooling over their benedict selection, which has all sorts of unique toppings ranging from seared tuna, to avocado, to brown sugar ham & cheddar. Our favorite is the Braised Beef Short Rib benedict. The poached eggs and hefty portion of juicy beef sit atop a savory and creamy polenta cake, which brings the entire dish together. Another must-have egg dish is the Scratch Chorizo Hash, with is topped with over-easy eggs, black bean pico-de-gallo, and roasted sweet potato—all the flavors taste like they were made for each other. As a carb option, we suggest getting the Crepe Suzette for your table to share. Its orange butter sauce and honeyed mascarpone make for a decadently tangy and sweet dish, but it’s hard to finish as its own meal. Portion sizes are large, and the high quality of ingredients make each dish extremely filling. Prices are on the higher side with each dish averaging around $17-$18, but who cares? You get what you pay for and more, both with food quality and the fabulous customer service; so when dining here, allow yourself to splurge. We can’t wait to come back!
