Nantucket is fabulous in the off-season and if you are able to shoot down there this month for a little R &R we highly recommend it. Contrary to popular belief, there are many wonderful restaurants that stay open past Labor Day on the island. Island Kitchen is definitely a solid pick for Sunday brunch. We grabbed the last spot outside and got to enjoy our mimosas in that glorious ACK sunshine. The atmosphere is perfect, buzzing but not too noisy. The menu is medium to large in size with a variety of carb, egg and "healthy” options suitable for any bruncher, plus they offer their entire lunch as well. We went with the steak salad and the eggs Benedict with panko. The steak salad is bigger than you think it would be for the price, which is a nice bang for your buck. And the eggs Benedict with panko is a surprisingly tasty twist on the classic benny. Basically, they poach the eggs and then fry them in panko, which gives the Benedicts a perfect amount of crunch—so good! Our one complaint is that there isn’t a larger omelet selection, but they do make up for it with the expansive list of benedicts and benedict variants. Also, we like the fact that there are several salad options on there to balance out those hollandaise rich bennies. But also don’t neglect the more lunchy options here. Many locals also seem to be enjoying just about every sandwich on the menu and like we said the steak salad is a home run. Prices are perfect by island standards, with everything falling under $20. Portions will leave you full until happy hour and the food is fresh and tasty.
